Introduction to the Course:

 

Chronic stress is the primary cause of many health challenges, including chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and challenging illnesses like hypertension and autoimmune disease. I designed this course to help people suffering from the effects of chronic stress who want to understanding how they got sick and how they can get well. Other people who can benefit from this course include family members or friends who want to help struggling loved ones and healthcare providers who wish to have more tools to assist their clients/patients.

 

We will examine how our nervous system evaluates information from our environment (people, animals, weather, traffic, music, and more). It involves scanning the external environment using all our senses. Our nervous system assesses the information subconsciously and decides for us how we will feel, think and act. This process is automatic and doesn’t involve conscious awareness.

 

When our unconscious responses are well-matched to what is happening in our environment, our lives generally go well. However, some circumstances like previous overwhelming experiences (trauma) can cause damage to our nervous system and lead to poor life outcomes like chronic pain and illness.

Course Overview

The course is presented through video lessons. I will explain from the Polyvagal Theory perspective how our nervous system evaluates information from our environment. I will also demonstrate the process in relatable examples. You will experience animations and other visuals to make the polyvagal concepts accessible and easier to grasp. I will also introduce you to the Polyvagal Chart that I developed as a helpful guide.

 

You will learn how to identify and correct patterns leading to unconscious responses that make your life harder. Additionally, I will provide you with tools and practices to help your nervous system make unconscious decisions more beneficial to your health.

 

In the video lessons I will also guide you through therapeutic play/movement and art-oriented and somatic-based activities.

 

This course will equip you with abundant knowledge and resources easy to apply to your daily life. In addition, you will receive ideas on how to guide your nervous system to access feelings of safety that allow you to thrive.
